Hi from Louisiana!  I have drooled over BGE's for several years.  I have introduced them to a few relatives that have purchased one or more and have fallen in love with them.  I have never been able to afford one.  $299?!?!??  Best value I have gotten on anything in a LONG time.  Thanks Home Depot!!  Now, not only did I get a cooker that can do what the BGE can, but I got one that can TRAVEL WITH ME, which is a HUGE benefit.  I love to cook for others.  I cook for the church, club events for 200+ and at friends homes.  The Bubba Keg is going to make my life, and the food I get to server others MUCH BETTER!  Tailgating this year is going to get CRAZY!  GEAUX TIGERS and WARHAWKS!!!  I have a chef friend that calls me "bubba" regularly anyway since I am not formally trained and most of my dishes are back woods spin offs from guys cooking wild game etc in Louisiana.  Now I can show him that I have a grill with my name on it!  ;-)  Having watched my relatives cook on BGE's and have read the forums off and on for years, I feel like I have a slight advantage over a pure rookie with this grill, but am TOTALLY excited to learn tons of new things to do with it.  So far, in my first 7 days of owning this fine machine, I have cooked hamburgers twice, steak, beer butt chicken, and BBQ chicken leg quarters.  My family is loving it all.  My wife won't let me fire up my big smoker but once a month at best, but she is VERY happy with everything that has come off the BKG.
I have to say that I am saddened that the corporate decision was made to change the name from Bubba Keg to Big Steel Keg, but it is probably a more universally appealing name.  To those of us who live in the south and have more than a little "red neck" or "bubba" in us, it's not a good change.  The good thing for the corporate folks is that the grill is SO DARN GOOD, you could sell it if you called it "Old Dirt Grill".  I had never seen one in person before mine was delivered.  I was EXTREMELY happy.  The fit and finish is MUCH better than I had hoped for.  The web site does not do it justice.  It's so solid and well made, I have to feel like it will be cooking for me for many many years to come.

What is amazing to me is that no one has taken the simple name of "Cajun" yet.  Sometimes simple is better.  Welcome to the board and keg cookings.  FWIW, with all the fancy cooking you'll read about on this board, the keg does simple cooks as well, and far better than any weber grill could dream about.  Just try burgers high heat seared with some apple wood chips or chunks; you'll be amazed.

Again,  Welcome!

Welcome Cajun!
I'm new as well, thanks to Home Depot.
I was also surprised that no one had already taken Hubba Bubba. It was the bubble gum of my youth, and the grill of my future!  Cool

Thanks to everyone.  Yeah, I had a room mate that used to buy Hubba Bubba in tubs.  My labs used the tubs for water bowls.  For some reason the preferred those plastic bowls to the stainless steel one I had on the floor right beside it.

I have been REALLY into making pizzas lately.  I have done a lot of experimenting with and without stones, double deck cooks, with pans etc.  I will try to get pics and fact findings up soon....
