Hey all,
It's been a while since I posted cuz I've been pretty busy. I'm finally gettin a chance to get this out. I got involved with an organization called operation BBQ. What they are all about is supporting our fine men and women in uniform by cooking for them when they are deploying or coming home from a deployment. We recently cooked for about 1100 soldiers at Redstone Arsenal Al. who could not go home for Thanksgiving. The Deuce Pigalow/Bubba Keg team along with three other teams and Chef Ben from the Redstone Officers club cooked 56 butts, 69 turkeys, 48 hams, and all the fixins. It was a great event and I am looking forward to doing another one. It was a great feeling to give back a little to those who give so much for us. Being a ritired Marine myself I know where these guys and gals are comeing from and know that this meant alot to them. All of the food that we prepared was donated by local businesses and individuals.
The Bubba Kegs did a great job. I did ribeyes for the crew the night before and was told by some of the other teams that they were the best steaks that they had eaten. Also I cooked 15 of the 56 butts on my 5 Bubba kegs. I checked them about every three hours during the night and they never fluctuated from 250 deg. A couple of the other teams that cooked on cookers equipped with gurus had some difficulties. I was proud of the Kegs performance. Once again they proved what outstanding cookers they are.  Click on the link below and see some of the photos from the event.

Deuce Great job!

As a retired army guy I know how much that can mean when you are far from home during the holidays.  15 butts at one time is a lot of work!  I’ve done 3, but “15” man that’s a bunch!!!

Thanks again for all you do…

MAN THATS A TON OF MEAT!

More importantly, thank you!  I too am a serviceman.  My wife and I both are in the USAF and we both go out of our way to invite single military men and women into our homes around the holidays.  We try to give them a home away from home, if nothing else a good home cooked meal.  Most of the time we venture away from the traditional holiday feasts opting for grilled yard-bird or flats of ribs and brisket, but 56 butts, 69 turkeys, 48 hams and all that goes into it, you guys must have an one ferocious operation!

Again, thank you for your committment to honoring those serving our GREAT nation!

Deuce,
Great to hear from you.  I've been out of pocket for a while too.  It's great to see you supporting these men and women who so richly deserve all of our gratitude for their incredible sacrifices.  Don't be a stranger...Smiley

Deuce,
I know this is an old post but I felt compelled to reply.  I am a recently retired Navy guy and a brand new Kegger so I just read your post.  I just want to say thanks.  What you guys do means so much to these guys.  You can't quantify it but it really feels good when you are about to go off for 6 months (or longer!) that the American people support you.  You are a real patriot to do something like this.  And it looks like you did a terrific job!
Thanks.
